This and Burnout are my Favourite arcade racers of the PS2 Era, and I always love coming back to them. This game is easy to compare to Burnout, but It is still different enough to be able to play and not see the same things again. The soundtrack for Flatout 2 is the 2000 style rock and alternative, that really sets the mood for this game.

Bowling where you have to launch the driver out of the car to hit the pins over. The game modes are fun to play, with the race mode's tracks being very different from one another, and often encourage collisions, the Derby mode, being dropped into an arena and trying the survive to be the last one standing, and the very different stunt mode, a bunch of party games, eg. The game has a wide range of cars, from small hatch backs, to massive 4WD's, perfect for smashing anyone off the road. Flatout 2 focuses on realistic derby style racing, with cars having health and becoming harder to drive when more damage has been inflicted, and with large collisions sending the driver flying through the windshield, while still managing to be fast paced and pleasing to play. – 34 vehicles to wreck, 12 rag-doll mini games, 60 track combinations, and thousands and thousands of destructible objects.Flatout, kind of like Burnout's brother in a way, is all about destructive racing. Twice as many vehicles, a more sophisticated career mode, additional race environments, double the number of tracks twice as many mini-games along with many multiplayer modes (via LAN only) are just some of the exhaustive features that are included in FlatOut 2. With over 5000 destructible objects on each track and 40 deformable pieces on every car sparks are guaranteed to fly increasing the mayhem with every lap! Featuring an enhanced version of the original’s lauded physics engine and even faster driving track designs, FlatOut 2 also boasts a plethora of improvements, enhancements and additions to make this the definitive FlatOut experience. And if anyone, including you, gets caught up in a big smash sit back and watch as the driver gets catapulted through the windscreen in spectacular effect. FlatOut 2 takes much of the basic content from the first game and tosses in a bunch more of it. Massive automotive destruction returns in Bugbear's FlatOut 2. However, these irritations don't suck away all the game's enjoyment, and those with a penchant for smashing and crashing cars will find FlatOut 2 an appealing piece of work. And some of the things that Bugbear didn't change still prove as problematic as they were a year ago.
FlatOut 2 throws in some new, stylistic touches both in its content and aesthetics that make it feel more like a clone of other established arcade racers, rather than something original. In FlatOut 2, the same basic concepts found throughout the original game are once again on display, but while more content has been added to the package to try to flesh things out, it is with these additions that FlatOut 2 begins to lose its way.
